The Richardson-Plano Alumni (RPA) Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., in partnership with the Richardson-Plano Guide Right Foundation and the Kappa League, proudly hosted its 26th Annual Thanksgiving Food Basket Giveaway on Saturday, November 22, 2025. This year, the event transcended mere service; it became a powerful leadership summit, solidifying the RPA Chapter’s commitment to community impact and the development of future leaders.

Unprecedented Impact: 150 Baskets, 1,800 Meals Delivered
With unparalleled commitment and coordination, the Brotherhood and Kappa Leaguers built and delivered 150 complete Thanksgiving food baskets, each designed to feed a family of 10-12 people. This monumental effort ensured over 1,800 people across the Collin County area would share a warm, festive meal. Deliveries were successfully routed to Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church (Plano), Lucas Community, and Shady Grove CME Church (Grand Prairie), reaffirming our dedication to serving diverse, high-need communities across the Metroplex.

Kappa League: From Logistics to Leadership
This year’s event was a hands-on masterclass in leadership and civic engagement for the Kappa Leaguers, turning a service project into a dynamic learning experience:
Logistics and Teamwork: Students were directly responsible for the massive logistical undertaking, handling, layout, precise unpacking, and the assembly of 150 individual baskets. This was a real-world lesson in supply chain management and disciplined teamwork.

Career Fair and Mentorship: Following the logistics phase, the students participated in a focused “Career Crossroads” event. They actively interviewed various Brothers about their diverse career paths, gaining invaluable insights into professional success, industry challenges, and the importance of professional networking.

Community Engagement and Media Skills: Students were tasked with conducting interviews, capturing the gratitude of recipient families and the motivation of volunteers, while simultaneously creating compelling video content. This honed their communication, empathy, and multimedia skills.

- The Public Speaking Capstone: The day culminated in a dynamic wrap-up session where the Kappa Leaguers took the stage. Each student shared their key takeaways from the day’s activities, from the logistical challenges to the career advice received, developing crucial public speaking and summarization skills in front of the Brotherhood and community leaders.
The Power of the Bond: Brotherhood in Action
The energy on November 22nd was electric, amplified by the diverse and dedicated volunteers. We were thrilled to welcome the returning, dedicated Brothers of the Richardson-Plano Alumni Chapter, whose experience anchored the entire operation.

Even more stirring was the enthusiastic participation of the newest initiates, the Fall 2025 line from the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). Their fresh energy and eagerness to serve were infectious. Working shoulder-to-shoulder with the Alumni brothers, unloading cases, building baskets, and coaching the Kappa Leaguers was a truly spirited time. This intergenerational effort not only strengthened the bonds of brotherhood between the chapter and the new initiates but also provided a potent real-world example of Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor for the young men of the Kappa League.
To Our Brothers: Don’t Miss the Momentum

To the Brothers of the Richardson-Plano Alumni Chapter who were unable to join us, you missed a monumental day of fellowship and impactful service! The synergy created when the entire chapter comes together is truly special, it’s where the bonds of brotherhood are forged anew and where our legacy is visibly passed on. We strongly encourage you to prioritize attendance at upcoming chapter events and initiatives. Your presence is not just a help to the community, but a vital piece of the RPA Chapter’s spirit and foundation. Let’s continue to work together and uplift our community throughout the new year!
