On November 23, 2024, the Richardson Plano Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., in partnership with the Richardson Plano Guide Right Foundation and Richardson-Plano Kappa League, proudly hosted the 25th Annual Thanksgiving Food Basket Giveaway.

This milestone event was a vibrant celebration of gratitude, unity, and community spirit, continuing a beloved tradition that has uplifted countless lives in Collin County for over two decades. It proudly showcased the chapter’s steadfast dedication to service, impactful mentorship, and making a lasting difference in the lives of others.

Each year, the chapter focuses on supporting families in the Douglas Community in Plano and in Lucas, Texas, identifying those in need and providing them with complete Thanksgiving meals. This year’s efforts were led by the RPA Chapter’s newly initiated Fall 2024 members, who rose to the occasion with exceptional leadership and dedication. They not only sourced the food items but also guided the Kappa Leaguers through a hands-on lesson in logistics, teamwork, and the power of giving back.

Event Highlights:
- Strengthening Communities: Volunteers distributed food baskets filled with all the essentials for a festive meal, ensuring families in need could experience the joy and togetherness of Thanksgiving.
- Empowering Youth: The Kappa Leaguers played an active role, learning valuable skills in organization and leadership under the guidance of the Fall 2024 initiates. This mentorship embodies the core values of Kappa Alpha Psi.
- Reflecting on Gratitude: The event was not only a time to share blessings but also an opportunity for participants to reflect on the gifts and privileges in their own lives.

Why This Event Matters:
- Addressing Hunger: In the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, over 800,000 people face food insecurity. This event continues to be a vital effort in alleviating hunger and supporting families during the holiday season.
- Supporting Vulnerable Populations: The initiative prioritizes serving minority families and the homeless population, who are disproportionately affected by food insecurity.
- Building a Legacy of Service: The involvement of new initiates and youth underscores the importance of nurturing future leaders and fostering a culture of giving back.

Looking Ahead:
The 25th Annual Thanksgiving Food Basket Giveaway not only provided meals but also strengthened community bonds and inspired a renewed spirit of generosity. Each year, the Richardson Plano Alumni Chapter eagerly anticipates this opportunity to share time, talents, and treasures with those in need.
Special thanks to the Fall 2024 initiates, the Kappa Leaguers, and all the donors and volunteers who made this event possible. Together, we continue to make a meaningful impact, feeding families and inspiring hope throughout our community.
