2025 Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway: Where Leadership Meets Legacy

The Richardson-Plano Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. continues its proud tradition of community impact and youth development with the 2025 Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway Initiative—a multi-week service project designed to prepare over 300 students across North Texas for academic success.

This year’s initiative was uniquely led by one of our own: Kappa Leaguer Amari Sanchez, an incoming high school senior who exemplifies the very essence of leadership we strive to instill in young men. Amari was entrusted with a comprehensive operational framework—mirroring real-world logistics, safety, and workforce management—and challenged to build a team, assign roles, manage production, and deliver results. With the support and guidance of the Brothers, Amari and his team assembled 336 backpacks packed with age-appropriate school supplies.

Hands-On Leadership, Real-World Application

Amari’s leadership journey included managing key areas:

These were not symbolic assignments—they reflected the complexity of real-world supply chain and manufacturing operations. Every decision made during the Backpack Build Day on Friday, July 25 mirrored the kind of leadership, delegation, and planning needed in today’s global logistics landscape.

Walking in the Footsteps of Giants

As our Kappa Leaguers take on these modern logistical challenges, they stand on the shoulders of African American pioneers whose innovations changed the course of supply chain history:

Frederick McKinley Jones

Elijah McCoy

These men not only shaped industry—they defied the odds and became architects of reliability and efficiency in systems we still depend on today. Their contributions were woven into our July 25 learning session, where students explored how modern supply chain principles—velocity, lean operations, quality assurance—can trace their roots to these brilliant minds.

Three Deliveries. One Mission.

Following the successful build event, deliveries are taking place at three strategic community hubs:

Each event offers students a continued opportunity to serve, learn, and earn Kappa League SWAG and community service hours—while seeing the fruits of their planning directly benefit families.

Brotherhood in Action. Legacy in Motion.

This initiative was made possible by the active engagement of the Brothers, who showed up not just as volunteers—but as mentors, advisors, and examples. Their presence affirmed that Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor begins with preparation, purpose, and pride.

As we look toward the future, we do so knowing that we are building far more than backpacks—we are building legacy, leadership, and the next generation of men prepared to impact the world. This effort was not just about school supplies; it was about presence, mentorship, and modeling what Brotherhood in action truly looks like.

The Brothers who showed up and gave of their time, energy, and spirit—you are the embodiment of The Bond. Your engagement speaks volumes, and it matters deeply. You reminded our young men that they are seen, they are valued, and they are expected to lead.

And to those who couldn’t make it this time, we encourage you—come out. Give a few hours. Show these young men what lifelong commitment looks like. Your presence reinforces our purpose, and there is always room for more Brothers to help carry the torch. Just as Jones and McCoy once stepped forward to shape the path, our youth are watching us—and they are ready to build the systems of tomorrow. Let’s make sure they don’t do it without seeing the example of those who’ve already walked the path.

Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor begins with our engagement—let’s keep showing up.
